Heroes Ascent ladder, viable?
As we try and think up ways to suggest improvements to Heroes Ascent, one of the items that I've debated would be the addition of a Ladder system to Heroes Ascent. Essentially it would be a ladder on the Guild Wars website that displayed a guild's wins/losses, fame gained, and Halls wins. Guilds would be ranked by the amount of fame earned. The standings would only be earned by entering the tournament with enough people in your team to qualify as a guild team ( > 50%). Alliance standings could also be tallied if it was so desired. While I can see a number of benefits to a system like this, it would have it's drawbacks. Some of the benefits would be:
- Encourage more guild and alliance play
- Increase incentive for playing beyond earning your next emote
The flip side of a ladder system might be the following:
- Further sub dividing the PvP community into people who HA and people who GvG
- Encourage builds designed to fame farm
- Decrease team build creativity and test builds
- Remove some of the uniqueness of GvG competition
I'm sure there are other pros and cons to something like this but I'm of the opinion that the benefits in this situation would outbalance the negatives. What do you think?

There's far too many f-list teams that hold nowadays to make this really worthwhile.

Well to be honest i think i would be a bit pointless. The main reason because HA players in many cases detest gvg and it seems 2 be sort of a cheep cop off of gvg if you understand what i mean. Also most guilds like going in HA feeling free aka knowing if they lose theres not consequences if they win even better. Also mite deter guilds from running fun test builds and guilds were say they have 20 members of which 10 are pro HA players the others arnt. Im sure those 10 wont be happy if the other 10 when they made guild groups lost alot due to the fact they just were not that good.

It's hard to have a fair system to to keep track of all the activities in HA. Particularly, it isn't fair when there's hall skip, kill counts map facing opponents' alliance....
I like the idea. Just not too sure how it's going to work.

I suggested something similar, with guilds getting fame and their own rank (kind of like getting silver cape) or something. I think the reply I got was (elektra you're nuts) and ''trust someone from your guild Leteci to say this'' XD.
With that in mind, I don't really know what to say for the thread.
I think it'd be great to have a stone in temple of balthazar, with like top 20 people. Where it shows how much fame they've got over the past week. Or like you say, something on the website.
Another thing could be, fame earned by guild.
If you include groups/guilds in anything, you run the risk of things being more elitist and people don't like that.

Its not a bad idea. Having a guild fame rating would be a good addition to the game (its called Guild wars after all, the most famous guild would be a nice thing to strive for).
I think however that the only way to improve HoH is to completly overhaul the whole tournement. Different maps, different mechanics, and probably a fame reset just to upset the leet ebayers out there.

How would a fame reset help people.
Do you think all the people that play with guild teams or freinds list will now suddenly take randoms with mending on there bar because you cant see rank emotes/titles anymore. This will not help make faster creation of pug teams in fact it would make it harder and longer since everyone would have to assume randoms are awful until they prove otherwise if teams were even willing to take randoms which many wouldnt.
This would not help anyone and just piss off a large number of players

I don't think a fame reset is ever gonna happen anyway so don't worry yourself about it. Btw, do you really think rank emotes are a measure of skill? Thats an old debate but I know a rank 10 who couldn't tell you what a relic run is.
But HA is a dead pvp format, and until they replace it with something new and much improved, its going to stay that way. A half empty ID2 at peak time kinda proves my point.
Guild Fame and a HoH ladder *could* restore some interest in it, but only if they totally change the whole format with it.
GvG is the only PvP worth getting excited about in GW at the moment.

Look, just because we are getting a HvH ladder eventually doesn't mean making ladders for rock-paper-scissors PvP modes is a good idea. (Nor that HvH ladder is necessarily a good idea...)
